close button behaviour

Hi, the data protection officer of a client has pointed out to me that the close button should not set any cookies, not even the "cookie_optin" cookier. Can this be changed?

This needs to be an optional configuration as this would also mean that no essential scripts are allowed to be loaded in such a case. This can cause a huge impact on the functional part of the site. I would recommend to remove the close button inside the template. CookieBot and UserCentrics also don't offer such a possibility.
